St. Matthew’s University School of Medicine (SMUSOM) has attained an unprecedented 100% Residency Placement Rate for their 2022-231 MD program graduates. This focused attention has led to consistently strong USMLE Step I pass rates by SMUSOM students.
In addition to your application, you will need to submit the following documents to complete the application process:
1.Transcripts: Official transcript(s) from each college/university or professional school you attended. Student-issued copies may suffice, pending official transcripts.
2.Personal statement: The personal statement should indicate (A) your purpose for considering a career in medicine; (B) why you would be an asset to St. Matthew’s University School of Medicine; (C) your significant activities or accomplishments, personal interests, unique aspects of your pre-medical preparation and any additional information that would help the Admissions Committee in the evaluation of your application. (A maximum of 500 words is recommended to answer these questions). You may attach your personal statement to your online application.
3. Resume: Your current resume is required, and you may attach it to your online application.
4.Letters of recommendation: Two letters of recommendation are required. Evaluations from a college pre-medical committee are accepted in lieu of individual letters.
5.MCAT: The Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) is required for all applicants who are U.S. citizens, nationals, or permanent residents. In addition, it is strongly encouraged for all other applicants and specifically required from those students who meet any of the following three conditions: Students with outdated required science coursework (>5 years old) Students who completed required science coursework at a community college Students with “C” grades or lower in the required science courses SMUSOM’s MCAT code is 919. More information about the MCAT is available at the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) website. Applicants can send SMUSOM their MCAT exam scores through the online THx system as soon as they are available at the AAMC.
6.TOEFL: Applicants whose principal language is not English may be required to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). More information on TOEFL can be found at the official TOEFL test site.
7.NACES course-by-course evaluation is needed for all institutions outside of the US/Canada
